Another pet peeve of mine is when people say “thank you” for things that don’t warrent a thank you. I appreciate the thanks - its better than nothing I guess - but I really hate the short, empty, worthless thanks I get when it seems they are only thanking me because they have the need to feel like I have done something for them, as if they are above me (when they aren’t - shit, my bosses can thank me all the day long - these people can suck it). For exmple, once when coming into work, I ran into a colleague. She opened the door for herself, and entered. When I grabbed the door after her so it wouldn’t shut on me as I walked in, she said, “thanks my dear” - how much of an ego/power trip are you on to be treating me as if I were your doorman when I’m just trying to start my day!
